Vintage Cigar Box

Recycle a cigar box into a treasured keepsake box using old family photos, raw materials, textiles, and antiqued embellishments.

• Suede Mocha, 8-1/2x11" (SEI Papers)
• Bronze Metallic paper (Die Cuts With A View)
• Autumn Weave paper (Petite Motifs)
• Pocket Watches Paper (Two Busy Moms)
• Muslin fabric scrap
• Leather scrap cut into long thin strip
• Dried wheat
• Watch faces (7 Gypsies)
• Decorative Brads, antique copper finish (Making Memories)
• Shank cutter
• Paper cutter
• Mini Overall Set (JHB International)

Instructions

1. Measure the inside bottom of cigar box and cut Pocket Watches paper to exact dimensions.
2. Adhere Glue Lines onto bottom of box, and press paper liner in place.
3. Print a favorite quote onto Bronze Metallic paper and cut to desired length.
4. Measure outside top lid of cigar box and cut Suede Mocha paper 1" – 1-1/2" shorter than width and length of the lid.
5. Attach Craft Glue Dots to four corners of the Suede Mocha paper, center paper on cigar box lid and gently press to create bond.
6. Using Ultra Thin Glue Dots, adhere photo to a muslin fabric swatch and the swatch to the lid.
7. Cut remaining papers to desired length.
8. Layer papers and attach using Ultra Thin Glue Dots.
9. Remove the backs of the Decorative Brads using shank cutters.
10. Attach Decorative Brads to four corners of photo with Ultra Thin Glue Dots.
11. Adhere watch faces and other embellishments using Craft Glue Dots.
12. To attach dried wheat, cut two segments of Continuous Glue Lines that measure the length of the wheat stem.
13. Place wheat onto measured Continuous Glue Lines and press gently to create bond.
14. Adhere wheat to the lid of the cigar box.
15. Thread leather strip through overalls hook, fold threaded strip back, and sew into place.
16. Cut Continuous Glue Lines to exact length of leather strap, place onto leather strip back and rub over clear release liner.
17. Place leather strip onto cigar box lid and gently press down.
18. Place the button of overalls set to an Ultra Thin Glue Dot and adhere onto the end of the overalls hook.
