Papel Picado is a beautiful way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! Turn paper into intricate designs to celebrate the holiday! Try making "Papel Picado" inspired straw flags from Cupcakes and Cutlery Party Designs!

Supplies Needed:

Straws

Decorative Punch (Martha Stewart Anywhere Punch used here.)

Glue Lines®

Mini Glue Dots

Crafts Glue Dots

Paper

Sharp Scissors

Cut your paper into a strip that is larger than your punch. (This strip is 1 3/4" x 4 3/4") Fold your strip in half.

Use your decorative hole punch to make your desired design. Be sure there is enough room for your straw to fold within the paper.

Place a Craft Glue Dot in the center of the fold and adhere to your straw. Be sure to not touch the dot, simply press and apply directly to the paper, touching only the liner. Be sure to line up the punches so the designs look nice on each side of the flag.

Ensure a better match by using Mini Glue Dots around the design edges to adhere in place.  Adhere the edges of the flag with a 1" Glue Line and trim the edge with a scissors.

Now you can enjoy your favorite Cinco de Mayo celebration refreshments with a fun touch of Papel Picado! Enjoy other fun and creative ideas from our friends at Cupcakes and Cutlery! They are always coming up with fun and easy uses for Glue Dots.
