Halloween Spider Web Votives

Create spooky spiderweb votive candles for your Halloween party!

Supplies

  • Micro Glue Dots
  • Removable Glue Dots
  • Black Cardstock
  • Glass votives
  • Silhouette SD

Instructions

  1. Open your Silhouette SD studio, go to my library and open up your free spider web. The spider web I used comes free with 50 images/files that come loaded with the software. Layer a bunch together so that you roughly have a 2 x 7 inch area covered.
  2. Next form a rectangle around all of your webs.
  3. Right click "weld". This makes all your webs connected as one giant web.
  4. Next we want to move our welded web onto the 2 x 7 rectangle. One you have it situated go to Object> Modify> Intersect.
  5. This will get rid of all the web outside the 2 x 7 inch box leaving you with a perfect votive wrap. I then copied and pasted the web so that I had 3 on my page. Time to send to the Silhouette to cut.
  6. Once you are done cutting you will have a lot of little pieces to fish out of the design, which is very tedious.
  7. Grab your removable Glue Dots. Place one Glue Dot in the center of the votive, and I used one more to adhere to the ends.
  8. You'll notice some random ends sticking out. Use Micro Glue Dots to hold these down.
  9. Repeat this until all of your candles are done and then light them!
